YouTube Censorship and The December 19th YouTube/Google Boycott/Blackout ^_^
hi everybody! ^_^ sorry it's taken me so long to get this discussion going...
i just spent a week sending out 8 messages per hour, which is the maximum youtube will allow (25 recipients per message, also the max allowed) until i had reached almost 14000 people... it took about 100 hours (around 15 hours a day) just to sent the messages... add that to the energy it took to comma separate approximately 14000 usernames into groups of 25, and i am absolutely exhausted from this project! ^_^
in fact, if i wasn't already nutz, i would be now! ^_^ LOL
but to me, it was important enough to tackle such a project, because all of our rights are in jeopardy and it goes so far beyond youtube...
if we can't win on this small battlefield, what chance do we have against the same adversaries on a grander scale??? although the number of responses are small by comparison, i feel as though my efforts were not in vain as long as it continues from here... let's take back youtube for the people! ^_^
know this... LegitimacyCoalition, the youtuber who made the first Dec. 19th boycott vid to go viral...
(the vid i saw that got me involved) has been kicked off of youtube!
if you try go to his channel it says it has been "closed"
if you try to watch one of his vids it says "video has been removed by the user"
this implies that he left voluntarily... but he did NOT!
anyone with ideas on what we can do about it, please start another discussion...
let's not let this injustice stand! ^_^

all the changes made by google since they bought youtube have finally accumulated into a completely ineffective system!
youtube is pretty useless now unless you are a corporate tool or a sheeple (which i am not) ^_^
so i will be participating in a boycott beginning on the 19th of december 2008... and i encourage you to do the same! ^_^

it seems as though youtube no longer wants us to be able to spread videos around and make them popular by our choice
they want to choose which videos (and channels) will become popular and censor those that they wish would go away!
they removed our bulletins that appeared on all our friend's pages...
modified the video "share" feature to make it even HARDER to reach even LESS people...
and if anyone hasn't read the terms of usage agreement lately, you might want to do that...
it basically says that even if "we the people" of youtube decide that a video is most viewed, discussed, rated, ect.
they will remove these honors if they don't approve of the content... and we're talkin' about videos that have already met the criteria of acceptable for posting!
so basically if youtube doesn't agree with your opinion, they reserve the right to stifle it and censor you!
is this the youtube you've come to know and love??? i didn't think so ^_^

* Fiddling the View Counters by not displaying the true number of views on videos. This keeps the videos out of the most-viewed lists to stop them from going viral.
* Removing honors from videos to prevent the video being displayed in any of the lists.
* Removing pages of comments from the video to prevent it from reaching the most-discussed lists.
* Removing the video for no reason, and displaying the message "This video has been removed by the user" on the page where the video used to be.
* Preventing the video from playing properly, if at all (sometimes accompanied by the message: "This video is no longer available").

* Displaying completely irrelevant videos in the "Related Videos" section on the video page.

i've been told by loads of people that my vids aren't showing up in their subscription area...
i can't bulletin them to all my friends anymore... i can't share them anymore (accept to the first 100 on my list)
so, if you wanna know what i've got goin' on, now ya gotta visit my channel...
that is, until they find a way to screw with that too!
